Born in Vancouver, Dr. Van der Westhuyzen completed his medical training at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

 

On completion of his undergraduate training he spent 4 years working in KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape of South Africa. He has now returned “home” to Canada to serve the Brooks community. He is a firm believer in the power of preventative, proactive medicine through healthy lifestyle choices and pursues evidenced based treatment options when addressing acute as well as chronic conditions.

• In-office procedures (IUD insertion, Skin excision biopsies, Steroid joint injections)

Dr van der Westhuyzen is compassionate, kind and extremely passionate about medicine. He believes in forming and maintaining good relationships with his patients.

 

When not working Dr. Van der Westhuyzen enjoys the outdoors, surfing, hiking, paddling, yoga and spending time with his loved ones.
